Jointless tiles in the bathroom

Is it a good idea to opt for jointless laying of tiles in the wet area of bathrooms? I heard two versions. It was suggested to use epoxy to avoid water getting into the tile bed. If we don't do it, water will seep into the tile bed, go up the walls and the lower portion of walls will be damp- said one version. The other version said it is perfectly OK to lay tiles without using epoxy even in wet areas of the bathroom, and whether walls will be damaged is a matter of luck. Thoughts?

Waterproofing of all wet areas in a building is essential, not a luxury to avoid. Several concrete buildings built without doing so in the past are having to undergo maintenance work now. Also ensure all plumbing works including any concealed wall pipes are capable of handling appropriate water pressure and checked for leaks before concealing. There are several methods to waterproof wet areas such as waterproofing membranes and/or under tile applications. Do remember all standard ceramic tiles as well as concrete is porous, not 100% waterproof.

You can use natural stone like marble for floor but do not use granite for floor at all as it is very slippery when wet. As for tiles do not go for glazed vitrified tiles for the floor for the same reason. ( floor becomes slippery once wet and may cause mishap) Go for ceramic anti skid tiles that are specially meant for bathroom floor. For wall tiles you can use whatever you like and then decide over the matching anti skid floor tile/ marble. Double charged vitrified tiles are usually used for flooring in rest of the house.

Mukti, From what you described, it seems you need a water softener than a hydrophobic coating. Salt based softeners are good for these issues.
