Ocean Front Home Before and After
This project encompassed the complete exterior and interior renovation of a house that is located on a bay with a view of the Pacific Ocean.

Exterior Before/After
The existing house looked like Darth Vader’s helmet—dark and foreboding. The redesign saved it from the “Dark Side”, bringing it into the light.
Living Room Before/After
The original 3,840-square-foot, 1992 house failed to take advantage of its spectacular waterfront setting. In the new design, all of the major interior spaces were reorganized so that each would have commanding water views and allow for easy entertaining. The exterior wall of the living room was completely removed and replaced with accordion glass doors, allowing the interior to flow to the new deck.
Kitchen Before/After
On the first floor, the kitchen was relocated to serve as the communal centerpiece of the house.

Comments (44)I like second plan! That space will fit the wardrobe perfectly. Take all colors from the art. The colors can be lighter or darker than the colors you see in art. Take "Venice" with you to paint store and they might be able to help you choose good colors. Idea: paint four walls the same and see if you like that. If you feel the room lacks interest, then paint the accent wall. Choose a pale green that harmonizes with "Venice" and a darker green accent. Comments (138)Leather sofas can really dominate the room and can give an overall cold feeling. I would add some earthy elements, like a wood coffee table with glass or metal. Go to Restoration Hardware's website and look at their sofa room scenes. And I'm sorry I think the art is too harsh for the room. That's all your eye goes to in the room. too overpowering. I would look for something softer or maybe a cool mirror and I would add color to the room with pillows and some colorful lamps. I also think woven blinds would look great. They add warmth and give a finished look. The color of your window treatments should contrast your wall color a bit, not match it or else it starts to look generic and blah.. Comments (22)@Dar - We hired a builder and he gave us this blueprint according to our requirements. We started constructing with the foundation and then after foundation the real problem came into picture. Now i'm worried about the front elevation only. We have already decided to make the kitchen open n combine it with dining hall. As per your suggestions we can combine the stair hall which is in our hands. Let me tell you the most important thing, we are constructing each and every room according to "Vastu Shastra". So we are forced to place rooms according to that. Comments (6)Nishant, Ideally, you should have electrical and plumbing lines ready before construction. Interior design, you may have the mood board discussed with your designer. The detailed plans can be developed in the construction phase or later as well. Planning is the key to a successful home building and should be the first task.
