Comments (27)I like the room but it looks a bit empty. Possibly some contemporary low interesting cabinet on either side of the fireplace some organic baskets or metal vessels of some sort on top of the cabinets. It will fill in the bareness between cabinet and sconces. Roll down textured shades at the windows would add a nice fill in touch and add privacy and block light. Or simple linen floor to ceiling curtains on rods at ceiling height. Here are three rooms with free standing cabinets and long curtains at the windows. You might like these ideas for not. Art work could be under the scones with lamp for ambient lighting Again simeple cabinets and surprise, a TV stand too. This is a lovely idea too with the twigs; could change seasonally. I like the benches for warmth and texture and softness and the chandelier adds a dramatic touch. Good luck with your lovely room!...See MoreNeed help on bedroom
Comments (24)Keya, glad you decided to take the one reader's idea about moving the armoires in front of windows that you don't need and giving the bed a wall of its own! And, yes, you can have Roman shades on one wall and layered drapes on the other. When I had drapes made for my tall sitting room windows/doors, I had them use the same fabric for the Roman shades for the smaller windows on the other wall. For me personally, in these older Indian homes with all the odd nooks and niches in the walls, perhaps it would be more soothing to have a light/med tone paint on the walls that blends with the drapes/blinds for an 'uninterrupted' look, and I would use the same color on ceiling and beams. (but that is just my thought) I would start the process with a large carpet with your favorite colors, then choose your Bedcover & cushions, then your wall paint and fabric for drapes/blinds ..Not certain what style you like, but if you really like a particular Ethnic bedcover fabric, you can always have them stitched into curtains or Roman shades too. Can't wait to see the "After" pics!...See MoreSuggestions to improve living room
Comments (14)Hi Anirudh, As budget is 40k, few options come to my mind without major changes to the entire setup you already have. Hope this would be of some help; The wooden linoleum flooring is not looking that great. you can think of removing it if that is an option. You can add a rug to the living room, synthetic rugs come is great variety and are inexpensive. You can go for a beige colored rug, plain or patterned. The first pic of your living room: Without replacing your Sofa changes you can make; 1. change the curtains. To create length and make room appear big and high up..Go for sheer curtains in white/off-white (something similar to the wall colour). Hang the curtain rod high up with width a little more than the window's (exact width of windows don't look so good). 2. Sofa Cushions: Replace the cushion covers with mix of - White(patterned-any small pattern would work) & Bright Blue color plain or patterned covers. Pic 2: Showcase: If you are not too emotional about that showcase, you should get rid of it. Instead hang Huge painting in neutral palette (nothing very bright) to cover it up. Any stretched Canvas paintings will cover up the showcase entirely. Those single picture frames should go away and so does the wall hangings. Pic 3: 1. BookCase: Buy/Diy a bookcase on top of the existing one...such that it touches the ceiling. You can completely get a new book case with wall to floor height if you please. Please don't crowd the bookcase, instead add a mix of books and some stopper or picture frame or decorative items. 2. TV Unit: The TV Unit is bulky and adds nothing to the room. Instead buy a simple one with drawers. 3. The wall clock is too small for the wall. Buy a bigger one so that it doesn't look too tiny with TV. You can go for a colored wall clock, like something in GREY or TEAL BLUE, provided your wall if lighter color. 3. Create a little interesting wall with paint or simple wallpaper. You can keep it white and give it some patterned finish with smokey grey (you see how marble wall looks something similar)..... And you can do without the curtain as well. Pic 4: 1. You can make this into a gallery wall and put photo frames along with paintings from high up to mid of the wall. mix and match and see what works here. When hanging colored photos keep some border while framing that looks better. 2. The single chair is occupying too much space. Instead you can replace it with a Blue/White Ottoman (cheaper option) or sleek wing chair (without arm rest) (a little expensive option). Actually you can buy two Ottoman and put the spare one on the wall end of TV unit and can alternatively use it as coffee table....See MoreDoon Villa Drawing Room - Sofa design&Size and Curtains - Suggestions
Comments (11)Vinay, Since you have hired a professional, not sure how much of below will make any sense. This is a tall-boi room and the windows and doors height add to it. You have quite a good exterior view with surrounding greenery but the messy grills have kind of killed that view. You may have to always use sheer to hide them and coupled with earthen colored curtains. Plain bland white walls is another thing you may want to reconsider. Without going into too much details, a clean contemporary look for this place would be best suited. The ceiling lighting doesn't seem sufficient for a 14*15 room and I feel there is too much of wood on the ceilings even in the other parts of the house. As of now it looks like a transit place and glad to see this being made a permanent home. Will be eager to see the end results. Thanks Nitin Cornerstone Designs, Bangalore....See Morechicdub
