Comments (17)Hi Adrain, Again thanks for showing interest in my post. I have highlighted my plot on a piece of paper. There are two parts marked as L and R. As I told u earlier i am making on half of the plot size available to me. Either I can make on L or I can make it on R. There are no such restrictions on material to be used but in India we don't used wood to make outer walls. General practice here is to use bricks and cement. I am adding to photographs one is a piece of paper highlighting my part of plot and the other is the google map pic. I cuing highlight in tht but I have marked it with red my side of plot. If u can compare both the pics u might be able to figure out the whole idea of the place. As far as the servant room is concerned it is a small room with kitchen and sedate bathroom attacked to the room. It's generally very small and have no access to the main house. To give u an example the servant room may be of the size 10 feet by 15 feet which includes a small kitchen and bathroom including the room too. Shaleen...See MorePlanning for disability
Comments (228)Tsilanko, I would always recommend professional installation where needed. But what I am doing here is suggesting that WHEN you are planning to build or renovate, to consider how your plans will affect you in 20 or 30 years time. Split levels are very hep when you are young. A kitchen 3 steps down at 30 is rarely a problem, but might be a hazard at 60, or, as Marjie1059 suggested, if you break a leg. ... All my parents' homes were terrible for old people. They were forced to move to a bungalow in extreme old sge because the location and design of their home was more suitable for an active young couple with a large family than for an elderly couple with stroke disabilities. I would not want to move again, so my present home has features built in that make ageing in place simpler. Mostly small changes, like grab rails, and lever handles on doors and faucets. A major disability suddenly suffered requires major changes if permanent. I did look at this because it came up in the discussion, but if you look at the heading, Planning for Disability, it means just that. Plan ahead so you don't have to make expensive changes later on. But thank you for your advice, yes, major changes are not in the DIY domain....See Moreplz suggest me best modifications for this plan
Comments (10)Hi Suresh, a few suggestion: the width of the passages seems too much to us if you look at it in relationship to the size of the rooms, it is not efficient // we would reconsider where the doors are placed and in what direction do they open // what is the space around the staircase? // What kind of a structure if this? maybe you should consider flipping kitchen and bathrooms to the east for natural ventilation, if possible of course... Comments (16)Hello @Cornerstone Design Studio India No. I don't have any idea about FSI. I will try to learn more about it. Regarding the size of green belt, I have confirmed it from the patwari that Plot 1 has got 5 metre green belt on both sides. He told me that: All plots with 24 metre facing road are having 5 metre green belt whereas plots with 12 metre facing road are having 2.5 metre green belt. (It's 4 or 3.5 metre in case of 18 metre road, I don't remember exactly). About that bold line, I am sure that it is not representing width of green belt. (Check below image as that bold line is having same width for 12 metre facing plots). So what do you think now? Should I become that lucky guy to own plot 1? Check out whole map and there are hardly 3-4 corner plots which are having 24 metre wide road on both sides. (and there are just 2 plots having North East direction) whereas there are around 50-55 plots which are similar to Plot 2nd. About your query, It's Suncity Township - I (Sector 35, Rohtak). It's around 45 kilometres away from Delhi border. Would you please mind elaborating this point a little bit more - "For us function prevails over design anyday". If built up area is going to be same in both plots then how it affects functionality? Thanks a lot for your detailed input....See Moreplace called 2morrow
