Urgent - need help on Color combo in living room
Comments (6)I think all white will be a very nice scheme and the differences in the white will just add subtle difference. In the above pic the walls are more white than the table, but mixing with the light tan colours and greyish tones makes this gradient of whitish tones work well. This room is all white as well with the furniture and walls, but adding the punch of the other colours masks if the whites are slightly different as the bright colours become the focus. The walls in the pic below 'read' a very pale grey so that would be an option, just ensure that it is a whitish-grey and not muddy or warm. I would choose the sofa colour as your main colour and accents to match from there....See MoreOpen versus Closed Kitchen?
Comments (2)Thank you Marie. I'm herewith attaching couple of pics that were taken when the house was newly constructed. I wish I could take latest ones but it is a total mess now. But you'll get a fairly better idea with an empty house. One picture, taken in long-shot, shows the lateral part of the kitchen hidden behind the shelf and Arch (I brought down this Arch now). The second one shows the kitchen door showing only part of the kitchen interior. I've annotated the pictures wherever necessary. Hope they're not distracting. As you can clearly see, this is an old-styled construction even though this house was constructed barely 6 years ago! In an attempt to make the home look contemporary, my current project involves either 1 . Bringing down the concrete shelves completely and replace them with wooden cabinets/wardrobes. I've already brought down few concrete shelves in other rooms. OR 2. Alternatively, overlaying few of existing shelves with wooden doors to cover them up. Either way, the appearance is more or less the same once the furnishing is completed. At this juncture, this decision of 'Open Versus Closed kitchen' is holding me back from proceeding to the next phase of remodeling - Dropped Ceilings....See MoreSuggestion for my house elevation
Comments (14)For the wall in the balcony I have shortlisted two stones A) Black leather finish granite B) Grey William granite. I am posting pictures of both. What can be pro and cons as I am looking for the exteriors wall only. Further for there will be window and steel/glass grill at wall of balcony so not sure whether book match pattern of grey William stone will work or not. I request whoever reading this to suggest which stone will look better at my elevation wall. Thanks a lot for reading this. Looking forward to get some positive suggestions....See Morecolour combination
Comments (1)Hi Parchuri, Deciding colour combinations for rooms is a critical decision to make. However, you may take clues from the colour of the existing floor, furniture and upholstery you have or rely on the ready made colour palettes available on the internet. Tips : 1] Always, take paint samples and paint a small patch on the wall before you finalize the shade as the paint looks different when wet, when dry, on single coat and on double coat. 2] Use neutral shades like off white, beige and grey to dilute the overall impact of the colours. A neutral shade helps in complementing the bright colour. Just like we wash a used paintbrush in water so as to pick a new colour, a neutral shade does the same with our mind - it clears it up to take in a new paint shade rather then seeing too many colours in continuity, which can get overwhelming to the eye. Don't Do 3] Pick a fan deck of colour shades from a local paint vendor to get an idea of the shades available and choose what you like. You can play safe by selecting a monochromatic theme and stick to a single page of the fan deck or if you want to combine two colours in a theme, move horizontally along the same shade number. This way your colours would be visually balanced. If you still find it difficult to imagine, hire a professional who may help you out. All the best!
