Need idea to fit in a pooja room

I am thinking of planning a pooja room in the plan attached. I would like to know best places. As per vastu north-east is best choice, but I cannot open up that space for pooja room. Construction is almost done I would say. Any suggestions are welcome. The main door is facing east.

Hi Vikas,

You can have puja room in the balcony attached to the dining. From the top left side, you can have 4'-0" to 5'-0" wide puja room, and rest area will be left for the balcony.

Another option is to create a puja in the right corner along with the dining shelf.

am assuming this is a concrete structure, when shifting service toilet to utility area, and if there are apartments above, then running extra lengths of supply/drainage lines & introducing a structural sink slab (if this is concrete) under the new location can be charged extra.. it will be easier to divide the 3rd toilet. all services will be already available. only, do check on supply & drain pipes capacity as load is increased on the same pipes which were serving one toilet earlier..

Hi Mridul, Greetings, The comments that you have made seems to be spot on. Converting the living into a dining is a great idea depending upon how the furniture is placed and how the rest of the space gets integrated with the entire plan. For e.g. Keeping the dining in the centre and the tv unit on the adjacent wall will make the entire space fully functional as well as spacious. Also the puja room which seems to be very conjusted and small can be a part of larger space as shown in the plan attached and can also go on to the adjacent wall if given a thought. The store existing can be a little large in that case and can accomodate fridge and other kitchen storage pretty well with a sliding door which will make the space feel minimal and unobtrusive in terms of circulation. Now the furniture shown in the centre of kitchen and dining table can be utilized as a serving counter as well as for kitchen counter. The plan seems to have a lot of potential in terms of designing and also, the overall ambience will depend a a lot upon the style and the proportioning of the furniture.

I am thinking of shifting the master bedroom door to open on the dining room area. And use the space between kitchen and master bedroom as pooja room. With a gap between toilet and pooja room. How about it?

Hi Vikas,

Then you can go for a compact puja space in the corner of dining shelf, adjacent to the master bedroom door. That way you can get enough space to perform rituals.

Another option, if the construction has not been started yet, then you can have foyer as well as puja room, at your entrance to the living room. Even if the construction had been done, then you can make this changes while carrying out the interior designing of your house.

About shifting of the bedroom door, you can do that too. But that will crowd the space.

Yes I agree. But again space is saved in dining. One more thing is the width of living/dining is 11’ so any wardrobe or additional walls would block some of path ways.

One more thing you can do is have it within wardrobe space, but accessible from within dining.
