Depending on your room, there are different methods to hide column edges. Column edges don't always need to hide, we can highlight it and make it an awesome edge instead of the awkward edge.

If the column edges are in the living room or in a bedroom, you can use the open gap between two edges to make shelves.

If it's in a balcony, you can paint it in different colors, paint it Aztec, make it an artistic feature of your home.

Thanks Neelam. I did think of shelving but the pillars jut out by just 3 inches. Not enough for a book shelf.

Don't limit shelves for books. 3" space can be used for more than merely storing books. You can have miniature sculpture, put photo frames- make it more like a memory shelf, you can also just Aztec paint shelves, and not use for storing. Just do what will make your home more beautiful by giving our personal touch:)
