You must go English. The colour depends on the kind of finish that you want in the sense whether it is veneer or laminate. You get excellent laminate these days. Don’t introduce a dramatic shade, instead opt for something subtle and subdued. Infact if you have a great carpenter glass would be a great option. However it must be toughened and frosted white.

I would recommend that you go in for a combination of white laminate and a similar colour brown laminate as your floor which will make your room look bigger. Add colours with some throw cushions and you can even put wallpaper behind your bed to add drama.

I read a guest mentioning about white lam. It is a good choice but then it must definitely have streaks of brown and you must choose textured laminate.
