Sofa or curtains first?

The walls are a light beige.
My plan is to get a blue sofa and white sheers with dark beige black outs so not really looking to match them. But does it still matter if I do one thing before the other? Thanks

Ideally, you'd make all the material / colour choices before buying anything. Otherwise, my advice would always be to choose the item which comes in the narrowest range of colours / finishes which you might find acceptable first.

Hi Aby it’s definitely worth thinking about your colour scheme, even if the colours don’t match, choosing contrasting or complimentary colours is a good idea (take a look at a colour wheel for some ideas on what works). You can try shades of teal & white in maybe floral,Paisley or a pattern that you want to try in incorporating with the theme of the room. Since your furniture is brown ,please try fabrics with white,teal and shades of brown as well...Go for a cotton/ raw silk fabric rather than heavy material drapes.Keep it floral and summery.Teal is associated with summer and ocean.Thanks.

Thank you Shalaka ! I do love it the way it is but since the windowstart are ceiling to floor and facing West, in summers it becomes a furnace. Hence the need for double curtains. So wanted to get something that when needed if I tie the front cream ones from the back when they show, it looks nice. While my husband liked orange, I was leaning towards, gold. So we decided to put it for vote. Thank you for your input :-)

Depends on how brightly lit and spacious the room is. If it isn't, using darker tones for the curtains isn't ideal. You could then use a lighter shade with patterns that complement your decor. If it is well lit, you could try something like this

I would like to give you more suggestions to improve your living room ambience . The highlight wall in pink can be switched to some other striking color such as a teal blue or moss green color , then you can change the curtain to from sheer/transparent to a thick fabric and the color to a neutral tone such as white / beige /grey .And yes definitely adding more lights to the space will amp it up ..
