Dear Carolyn, Thanks for your advice. Wood of 5mm thickness will be a good idea . It will help painting remain straight. I can slide it through a groove on wooden bars top and above. The wall I am describing is the one on left side as you enter. I love this painting as it depicts joy and celebration and you always get a smile when you look at it. Regards, Surendra

With white fixtures, keep your floors and all tile white or a stone that is mostly white. You can paint the walls above the wainscot (which might be glossy painted wood or beadboard, or you might employ a cabinet for the sink that was painted a very soft sky blue. One narrow trim piece of tile running through the white tile might be the same tone of sky blue. Then, add blue linens / towels / etc. [houzz=] Now, consider what other colors are in your home and select one that is clear and soft and lovely with white. You might use that color instead of sky blue. I used sky blue because it is the color of water and therefore always appropriate in the bath, but you can make the bath flow with the colors you have or plan to have in your home. If this was a master bathroom instead of a common or guest bath, I would shift the choices of stone and tile from white plus white to a lovely off-white, cream, or almond tone - like travertine. Hi Kiran, Before you place any furniture here, you should rethink the existing layout. I would eliminate the 3 internal walls around the puja room, and convert the areas of the living, puja, dining and kitchen, into a singular larger space. This is simply for better air circulation and overall aesthetics of the flat - to make it feel larger. You will now have an open kitchen - which can be shut by either a glass sliding folding partition, or with a half wall with a breakfast bar. You can use furniture smartly to create privacy for individual areas. You can also change the locations of the doors to the bedrooms, by not having them from the dining space, but from the passage outside the bathrooms; so that a larger table right in the centre with a dining credenza by one of the walls, thereby making the dining space a bit enclosed and not accessible from 3 sides. To answer your main question, you can have the television on the common wall between the living and bathroom (5'x8'); an L-shaped sofa can be placed along the same wall as the entrance door. The simplest thing will be that the faculties should be practioning architects as well as professors. There is a wide gap between the bookish curriculum and the one which is going outside in the field. The study should be grounded to the regional feasibility and how things are actually practised when you get into the field. There were great structures built but one should also study the whole process of design approval in each design, like what was the need, who were the clients and what they demanded, how did the architect come to build the said thing. The one miss in education I find is that the architects face difficulty running a business and that too should be a part of the architecture degree curriculum.
