Hardwood help!

I’m renovating a 1959 house and trying to keep the mid-century vibe, yet I’m also very drawn to a natural/bohemian look. I’ve attached a photo of the engineered hardwood our designer picked out (matte white oak) but I think it might be too dark. Opinions please! Thank you!

if you want lighter, then tell your designer. doesn't matter what anyone else says. Is that useable? yes. it will work. both of these boho rooms have mid toned floors
true mcm from the 50's-60s used tile, carpet, rugs. scandavian style used a lot of white and light tones, but the furniture was a danish teak.

All walls in living room are double ceiling. 1) We plan to put our TV on wall B. Comments (13)Your choices don't flow well to me. The flooring in your photo is pretty (very dark...are you okay with it showing every footprint, smudge, and dust bunny? If so, that's fine). From all of your options there I would do white cabinets with the Himalaya White granite. But you said ignore the granite. :) I would go for the gray cabinets with white quartz everywhere in that case, but personally I'd worry about gray cabinets being very dated in a few years. Comments (2)Hey Katy! How about using large white tiles with or without spacers? You can use transition strips in brass between the hardwood and the tile and tie in the brass finish to the sink faucet and lights. ( That is if you want to change the lights! I think you should) and instead of using warm lights, go for natural white. in the 4000 - 4500 Kelvin range. and perhaps a fixture that gives more light to your room! Comments (3)Better go with acrylic finish or high glossy laminate finish for cabinets. Use light colours ( Tan, ivory, cream... Etc ) And for counter top choose the contrast colour which matches the cabinets finish....See More

I wanted a warmer space with somewhat of a warm grey wall. Right now our couch is cool grey but I’m hoping one day can be replaced with a couch that is caramel or tan.

6 years agoMaple - very clean, scandinavian - would be much lighter than the wood your designer selected. Use a natural sealant to protect against UVA and yellowing.
