it is open family room and kitchen is adjoining and had creamish cabinets. There isn't too much wall space, but I need a color that will work. Please help!
i'd pick a green or blue in the same tonality to keep the brightness going. It woudl be odd to have one bright room right next to a neutral or subdued color, no? On the other hand, if the two spaces are adjoining, where do you plan to break the color? You migh twant to continue the same color throughout.
Thank you! I was thinking of either starting some shade of green on the wall with pantry or maybe redo the wall of windows a green shade.. so far I have come up with the ruskin green (SW).
it's really hard to tell on the computer screen. if you go to the store and get a sample, you can then paint it onto a white sheet of cardboard or posterboard, and hold it up to your current wall, and next to the yellow wall, and next to the cabinets etc. and see how you like it.
WIth this shade of yellow, I might go with a limier green, but again, it's super hard to tell.
Hi K. rajput ,Take a smallest box available from the store and apply and see how the colour comes out , rather than painting a full wall do a 2 x 2ft patch , and see the colour in light n medium light , I can see you have big windows so draw the curtains to see the real effect of the colour .
I would pick my color - then divide it by half and then divide it by half again...then divide it by half again. You can either go forward...with the full strength in the family room...half strength in kitchen area...then half that for the upstairs hall way. It is hard for me to tell from your pictures were you might want to start. My home is rather choppy...entrance and staircase open to a Living Room (also seen from above). I did entrance full strength , Living Room half strength, and upper hall half of that. It flows nicely and the cuts on the corner walls were not so difficult. It has continuity but you don't feel overwhelmed by one color. This worked better than following a paint color down..the one that you get at the paint store. Hope this "recipe" makes since.. Dinnie
Thank you everyone! Changing the paint is not an option just yet, but I feel once I put things back, it may just tone it down a bit. Thank you so much for all of your input.. I should have done this before I even started picking the colors out... Oh well... But I thank you all!
