Are you saying you will be layering a wooden false wall on top of the existing wall to hold the pocket door? If that is the case, you might want to treat the entire side of that new and existing wall ( including the area above doorway) as an accent wall using wood veneer strips. They look like actual pieces of wood plank which have adhesive backing, they come in a variety of finishes and colors...I like the old reclaimed wood look. A diagonal pattern would add extra visual interest, but would be more intense to cut and install. That will camouflage the additional layer and create a beautiful accent wall.

Ashish That is a nice idea. However if you are going with light walls, I would say go darker with your furniture colour. If you use white or off white wall colour, go with a darker grey sofa. Hey! Normally the door and the trim can differ in colour if there is another element pulling the trim colour on it. for instance if you have baseboards (which India doesn't) or wainscoting. Then you can use the colour of the trim on those elements. Since yours is a single unit, go for a cohesive whole with the trim and the door. In case you like paint, go for PU, it'll give you an excellent finish and will last long. I personally love the while on your doors. so maybe go with a warm white core laminate? alternatively you could also select a colour from something in your living cum dining space!
