Paint /Wallpaper/Wall Cladding - Builder

I have not yet decided on which wall will have a paint or wallpaper or wall cladding. Will take the help of interior designer. Mean while I would like to know what should i request the Builder with regards to the Paint. They are very fuzzy with respect to any change. They are giving white paint. Is it ok for Builder to give the default paint which i can change later for wall paper/wall cladding.. or should i request to leave all the wall blanks? Which will work better?

Hello,

It is better to take a finished wall. The only exception is for wall cladding where a unfinished wall will be slightly advantageous.

Thanks. So it is not messy to change wall designs after painting right? On the same note, how messy is it to change floor tiles after builder handover? How much cost typically to remove the tiles? Will there be any risk in doing it?

I think grays and blues would look great! here are a few accents that may go with your yellow color. Hello Kanika, Sorry to hear your experiences. There are many a possible fixes to this issue . Use the ones based on your patience level. These are not DIY stuff and you may need help to do it. Please handle the chemicals/acid with extreme care. Steps: You may not need all ;) 1- Start with pressure washing with water at least twice 2- Dry Soda/sand blasting will remove most of the putty 3- Diluted hydrochloric acid wash will take away any remnants. It will remove the remaining flakes and also etch the polish marks. 4- Finish with a soda wash to remove any acid + Pressure clean once again. Alternatively, there are a few old school tricks which work great to hide these errors. 1. Make a thick mixture of cement /water/binder and touch up on the white putty marks. Let them dry, and proceed with smaller ones. 2. And If you want a similar finish, a paint like consistency of the above cement and water mixture can be applied on the wall using a paint roller make sure to do it one go as cement does change color in each batch. You may add colors and lime to add some character. Caution: Before proceeding with any of the above, test it on small patches. Be extremely cautious with acid and blasting dust. Hello Sir,

I do not understand- what do you mean by "changing the wall Designs." For coloring/wall papers/textured painting it is better to have finished wall. For wall cladding/tiling it is OK to have a non finished wall as well as they require a rough surface.

For changing the tiles, its quite a messy, and wasteful expense.

Rather, you can give the tiles of your choice to builder to install on the first go itself. Some builders don't allow such requests but others would happily do so. Some others may even offer a discount for not using their tiles.

Same thing with paint as well you can give your colors to them to paint if you are not happy with white.

Mostly interested in wall paper and wall cladding, but do not know which walls as yet. So will go with default paint from Builder and during interiors will add these.

Floor tiles, i did thought too, its messy. The flooring is already done, so I am guessing, may be carpet can cover some of the part. Anything else available in design to cover tiles other than Carpet and furniture?
