This is wonderful how you opened the stairs - you get a real sense of the architecture and it brings in more light. I applaud what you have accomplished. I'm going to assume that the wall above is patched with quickcrete and the whole thing is painted (try to get the wall beyond under the stair too). If you have / want a flat screen, you might mount a swing arm wall mount for a flat panel television on the vertical wall element remaining on the right - just about 3' - 3 1/2' (around 1 meter) above the floor so that it is eye level when you are sitting. The swing arm support will allow you to tilt the television away from the wall ever so slightly across the nearby corner. This can help to eliminate glare from the nearby window and make it possible for more people in the room to view it / expand your seating possibilities. Since the upper stair is just behind, this should be fairly safe for the electronic. Determine precisely where the television will be at rest before you hang the mount itself. Then, look for a low height chest to sit below the television. Ideally a chest with one open shelf near the top to hold your component receivers. You may want to try to run electrical to the remaining vertical wall on the right (the support for the stair landing) to get power into the wall itself, while everything is open. Depending upon where the nearest source is, with concrete walls, you could mount the power junction box low on the wall under the stair and drill out small diameter cord passages through the wall after placement of your components. Or use the baseboard area to run needed cables and power to the area behind the chest, then conceal it with baseboard trim. The more you can hide the power and connection cords, the sleeker the look, to match your gorgeous architectural stair element. If you have a larger deeper television, put it on a sideboard chest under the upper stair where you have the depth. On your paint problem I can't be much help. This usually happens because of damp -- please get a damp expert to make sure that there isn't any damp lurking in your walls. I had this once when I had pipes leaking inside the walls. I didn't know that. The other alternative is something like painting before the plaster is dry or some kind of chemical mismatch. I do know you will have to scrape all the mucky powdery stuff away and start again, at least on those areas. Don't try to seal and prime and repaint until you know exactly what the problem is and how to fix it.

OK... but the wire wont be lower as it is fixed now. The wire in the pics below is the wall facing each other. They were leveled on equal height but the beam on one wall makes it seem a little above. But i think you guys are absolutely right that up and down lights wont look good there. I think you are right about down lights lessismoore. Would it look good if i go with two different lights on opposite walls??? it would look odd right.

Hi Anirudh, As budget is 40k, few options come to my mind without major changes to the entire setup you already have. Hope this would be of some help; The wooden linoleum flooring is not looking that great. you can think of removing it if that is an option. You can add a rug to the living room, synthetic rugs come is great variety and are inexpensive. You can go for a beige colored rug, plain or patterned. The first pic of your living room: Without replacing your Sofa changes you can make; 1. change the curtains. To create length and make room appear big and high up..Go for sheer curtains in white/off-white (something similar to the wall colour). Hang the curtain rod high up with width a little more than the window's (exact width of windows don't look so good). 2. Sofa Cushions: Replace the cushion covers with mix of - White(patterned-any small pattern would work) & Bright Blue color plain or patterned covers. Pic 2: Showcase: If you are not too emotional about that showcase, you should get rid of it. Instead hang Huge painting in neutral palette (nothing very bright) to cover it up. Any stretched Canvas paintings will cover up the showcase entirely. Those single picture frames should go away and so does the wall hangings. Pic 3: 1. BookCase: Buy/Diy a bookcase on top of the existing one...such that it touches the ceiling. You can completely get a new book case with wall to floor height if you please. Please don't crowd the bookcase, instead add a mix of books and some stopper or picture frame or decorative items. 2. TV Unit: The TV Unit is bulky and adds nothing to the room. Instead buy a simple one with drawers. 3. The wall clock is too small for the wall. Buy a bigger one so that it doesn't look too tiny with TV. You can go for a colored wall clock, like something in GREY or TEAL BLUE, provided your wall if lighter color. 3. Create a little interesting wall with paint or simple wallpaper. You can keep it white and give it some patterned finish with smokey grey (you see how marble wall looks something similar)..... And you can do without the curtain as well. Pic 4: 1. You can make this into a gallery wall and put photo frames along with paintings from high up to mid of the wall. mix and match and see what works here. When hanging colored photos keep some border while framing that looks better. 2. The single chair is occupying too much space. Instead you can replace it with a Blue/White Ottoman (cheaper option) or sleek wing chair (without arm rest) (a little expensive option). Actually you can buy two Ottoman and put the spare one on the wall end of TV unit and can alternatively use it as coffee table.
