Hi Ni, I just thought of something....did you say you planned to do the stencil motifs on the window wall? If so, I am thinking they will be mostly hidden by the curtains. I wonder if it might be better to stencil the long wall that is on the right side of the room when looking toward the window. I could see this being a pretty backdrop to the prayer box (I think that’s what you called it?) and your wood cuttings. Then maybe the opposite wall (the one with the kitchen doorway) could hold a large piece of art?

Yes, JudyG that's exactly the way people were using the taller table. Sort of a café look, or casual bar setting. One home had a beautiful huge kitchen all done in white with dark wood floors and RH style fixtures and hardware. Where you would normally think would be a traditional dining room, they had made it up with a large high table and 6 barstools. It almost looked like an extension of the island. Another one was in a very open and light kitchen. It was smaller and where you might think of putting a breakfast nook they had a round café-style table with four barstools. I liked it because it gave a more casual appearance. If people were sitting at them, they were on the same level as those working in the kitchen. Almost like a bar at the island for that effect, but with some separation.

If you decide to buy them as shown here and you still want to stain them, be sure to find out what the wood is and what the existing finish is on them. 'Supreme" chairs come in dazzling colors.I flipped for them when in Kerala but bought them while at Vijayawada. They are available anywhere and are water resistant, strong and too cute to look at. I am yet to find a table to pair them with but will do so soon. red,lime green,black,white,brown,blue,yellow...my god.The colors and their vibrancy is awesome.Many more colors as listed are available.
