What a great question. During the entire 5 weeks of this showcase not a single person asked this rather obvious question. I am so glad you did. The draperies are not meant to be closed. They are meant to suggest the possibility of closing. They are meant to define the demarcation of one space from the other. When the bed was built in the room - it could not be brought in intact, the room suddenly looked much larger , and at the same time more intimate.
