It was designed by me and custom built by David West (Structures in Landscape). Clear cedar posts (6x6), curved steel powder-coated beams, clear cedar beams (4x4). Custom brackets. David even fabricated clear plastic post caps to protect the end grain of the expensive posts! The radius of the curve was specifically designed to fit the space, and the height planned to block views from the house up the hill. The scale and quality of this structure would make it unlikely to be mass-produced...

My treated posts rotted and got termites from resting directly on the cement. Did he cap these at the base as well?

No. They are supported with a small space under the bottom, so they don't sit in water. (Capping the bottom would not prevent that.)
