Need help for kitchen corner

I have got 3 kitchen corners and thinking of using one corner for grocery dumping and another for bigger pots and pans . Please help clarify below doubts -

Butterfly drawers : Are these sturdy enough to dump heavy grocery items like grains and oil cans etc ?Isnt some triangular space getting wasted next to these drawers ? (image 1 below)

Lady Susan Corners / Magic Corners : These are good from accessibility perspective but are expensive . Are these better than shelves with a L saped folding door . Again are they good for heavy items ? (image 2)

The butterfly drawers would be sturdy enough for grains and cans. I would just make sure the drawer glides are able to hold the weight. I usually look for Blum hinges and glides, they've usually held the best for prior projects.

Lazy susans are usually what I love to use for corner storage. However Lazy Susans with a center pole usually cut down on storage space and can be cumbersome when trying to get items in and out. I love the ones that are mounted to a fixed shelf with no center pole. If something falls off it's just like reaching in the back of the cabinet shelf. Plus with the fixed shelf your able to store heavier items like mixers, pots and pan.

Magic Corners I find to be awkward when trying to store items, and most you can usually just fit smaller items in the compartments. And the one complaint I get from them is that the glides get sticky over time.

If your still wondering what options to go with, find a local kitchen showroom and try them out. Open all the options your looking at and see what fits your lifestyle and habits.

Is this akitchen you are just building? If so I love drawers for base cabinets and that is where I put my pots and I have always had lazy susans in my other kitchens and loved them for food storage, in my last house I had one for baking supplies and one for baking pans. The butterfly drawers are realitivly new so not much experience with them there are also some very interesting inserts for corner cabinets that allow easy access so I guess if I was doing this now I would have to really explore all these options.

The only complaint we hear about the lazy susans are that if something falls off in the back, it is almost impossible to get to it. We like the fixed shelves with the same style door as a lazy susan. They are more sturdy and I think in the long run you can get more inside. There are also some nice led lights are battery powered and motion sensitive so that it comes on inside when you open the door and you can see everything in the corner cabinet.

The corner drawers will lose some usable space. How sturdy they are depends upon the cabinet style, type of materials from which it is made and the type of guides and support for the guides that are used in construction. I personally would not plan on these for overly heavy items.

Cabinets by Design LLC if there is no room there, where would you consider placing the refrigerator? I would need some dry area (counter top) as well to keep my mixer/blender etc. also some space in the bottom for cabinets to keep all those big vessels for cooking. How to make use of the corner portion well? side - d? I have to think about the possibility Sativa Jaeger Designs LLC mentuioned , about moving the kitchen opening up further north. I also don't want want the kitchen door to be just opposite to toilet door . the kitchen door should start at the point where toilet door ends. I know this is a huge challenge, as it is really small and thats the only drawback of this house which we had to compromise considering all other aspects.

Hello Pete, It is indeed tricky to select the laminate from small sample patches. We feel it is often misleading as the small section is just a 2 inch piece cut out from a 8ft x 4ft sheet. Depending on your location you can do either. Check on Merino website .They would show images of the full sheet and if you are lucky even real life application of the same. My feeling that corner drawers may work for lighter, smaller items better and not needed frequently...when any drawer is open, no one can access either side. Just to help: we had a lazy suzan for our spices, which is convenient, but space is not used to its full potential. We also had an l-shaped door with regular shelving for larger items (blender, baking items, waffle maker, etc) not used frequently, as storage is deep and back items harder to access. For pots and pans, I would highly recommend a regular deep drawer, as items stack and sit side by side nicely and are so easily accessible.

It depends entirely on what you want to store in the corner. An L shaped corner cabinet can store large bulky items like cases of water and Costco paper towel bulk buys. Add a Super Susan (not a lazy susan) and you can store pots and pans and small appliances, with them rotating around for easy access. The corner drawers offer less square foot storage than either of the previous options, but can provide good organization for measuring cups, plastic storage containers, linens, etc.

Sometimes the room's architecture constrains the options for a corner cabinet. It can force you into using a blind corner. There are options to make storage better with it as well. The Hafele Lemans is one such option. There are others for smaller blind corners, like the half moon swing outs as well.

As with any of the cabinet options in a kitchen, it's about context within that particular kitchen what might work best.
