@magspag Thanx for the advice. We wanted to save some cost by not replacing the floor tiles, as well as save by retaining the upper cabinet in its current grey shade. Guess we will go for all-black for the cabinets: both below and above the counter; and put in a new counter-top that contrasts--maybe, a light coloured granite or slate. More information is needed: How will it be used? What is the view and where? Who will be using it? How many people? Pets? What is your preference of materials? A truly good design address all these issues and more in the programming aspect of the design process. Although hiring a local professional would be great, you can certainly work with a designer via emails, Skype, etc. Good luck.

Dear Kiran, It is a good idea of having a curvilinear false ceiling design for a living room plan like this. It will make your space look spacious as well as it will help create a character wall by accentuating the TV screen. The light colour palette will further make the space look harmonious and bigger. @HU-563441043. Thanks for your suggestion. Little late for the ceiling light now, I just got battery operated round leds installed in each box. It works with remote, can get dim and with timer. So very cool. I am surely going for metallic border now. I really liked that idea. All the stuff that is there will go out and I will put some showpieces. I am also thinking of, rather than getting color laminates at the back, covering the leds with solid colored see thru plastic sheet (mostly used for gift wrapping). That ways I can highlight few boxes with reds, greens blues. Tried red and it looked something
